About Us - The RCT Fair Trade Charter...
The Rhondda Cynon Taf Fair Trading Charter for the motor industry has been running since 1997. A vital element to the Motor Trade Charter is the Panel, which is made up of members of the motor industry, together with the Consumer Advice Manager, Charter Officer and Senior Fair Trading Officer. The franchise and the independent sector are represented, as are repairs and servicing. The panel meet to agree terms & conditions, the use of charter funds, to keep the membership up to date with relevant changes or news items and to adjudicate on disputes that cannot be settled by informal discussion.
There is little doubt that Rhondda Cynon Taf Consumer Advice Service benefits from a low level of complaints from charter members and the partnership aspect is proving very successful in settling any disputes that may arise.
In October 2006 the Charter became the first in Wales to achieve Office of Fair Trading Accreditation under the Local Authority Assured Trader Scheme Network (LAATSN). Meaning the Charter meets the tough minimum standards set by the OFT and is earmarked as a scheme of best practice for other authorities in Wales who want to adopt their own scheme.
