The Rhondda Cynon Taf Fair Trade Charter for the motor industry has been
running successfully since its launch in Feburary 1997 and has a membership
of over 40 businesses from the area. There is little doubt that Rhondda
Cynon Taf Consumer Advice Service benefits from a low level of complaints
from the charter members and the partnership aspect is proving very successful
in settling any disputes that may arise.
In October 2006 the Charter became the first in Wales to archive Office of
Fair Trading Accreditation under the Local Authority Assured Trader Scheme
Network (LAATSN). Meaning the Charter meets the tough minimum standards
set by the OFT and is earmarked as a scheme of best practice
for other authorities in Wales who want to adopt their own schemes.
